DETAILS

Delve into a weekend of relaxation, less than 2 hours from Chicago, where you can fully enjoy being our guest, alongside nature and like-minded individuals. Replenish your energy through daily yoga and meditation practices and nourishing, homemade meals. We will celebrate the end of Summer and welcome the transition into Fall by focusing on what we envision for the season and the end of the year ahead.

The home, located in Sawyer Michigan, is equipped with a heated in-ground pool, outdoor deck, indoor fireplace, four comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. We will begin the retreat on Friday evening with dinner and a gentle yoga practice with meditation. Teas, coffee and light breakfast is provided Saturday morning followed by a vinyasa yoga practice. The afternoon is yours to enjoy! You might head to town, hike in Warren Dunes state park just minutes away, relax by the lake, swim in the pool, nap, read, etc. A simple lunch is provided or feel free to head to a local establishment. We will reconvene for a delicious group dinner and end the evening with a restorative yoga nidra practice. On Sunday morning we will begin the day with a practice to conclude the weekend and enjoy breakfast together.

All meals are organic, seasonal and locally sourced, allergen-friendly, gluten-free and plant forward. Snacks, dessert and beverages are also included. Anna can accommodate any restrictions/aversions you may have. All yoga practices are accessible, with modifications and variations offered, and are planned with mental health support in mind. Chronic conditions, pregnancies and injuries should be communicated with Emily. Bring your mat and any props that you may want to use.

Please note that this is not a party weekend and substance/alcohol use should be minimal.

REQUIREMENTS

We require that all retreat participants are vaccinated and will ask you to email your vaccination proof after registration.

You can also take the train from Chicago to New Buffalo (15 minutes from Sawyer) and we can coordinate pickup as long as it doesn’t interfere with the practice schedule. Taxi or Uber may also be available once you get off the train.

YOUR HOSTS

Anna & Emily actually met while on a yoga retreat/training in Nicaragua in 2016, continued to practice together while back in Chicago and then a few years later came to learn that they lived on the same block! Anna is a woman of many talents. She is a hairstylist, a certified health coach specializing in hormones, and a registered 200 hour yoga teacher. One of her favorite things to do is to cook and she has plenty of experience cooking nourishing food for retreats. Anna also teaches monthly cooking classes ‘Monday Night Meals’ with her husband Chris, who is a professional chef in Chicago, on the Verdant Virtual Wellness site. Emily has been teaching yoga in Chicago for 7 years, managed Nature Yoga for 5 of those years and is currently halfway through her training to be a yoga therapist. She specializes in yoga for anxiety and depression and hopes to share these accessible practices with as many people as possible.
Anna & Emily are both lovers of Michigan and can’t wait for you to be our guest!
